Hi Guys

My primary website is built in FP2003, and yes I keep on meaning to re-do it in Expressions, but I'm basically a lazy sod.

I want to add wordpress to create a blog, both for my own use, but also to boost the sites SEO level.

The problem lies in the fact that wordpress is a php/mySQL based service and therefore requires FTP to upload, but if FTP is used this could corrupt the FPSE on the existing site.

How therefore do you get a round peg into a square hole?

Hi Mike,

There's a couple ways to do it.

Even though Wordpress talks about using ftp..it is still possible to use the FrontPage publishing feature via http://

All you would need to do is to import all of the files and folders into the folder/directory you want to use for Wordpress (same thing actually) in your local web and then publish to the server.

Alternatively it is possible to use ftp on a FrontPage web (with the extensions) as long as you use a little care. Usually the FrontPage extensions only get corrupted when you ftp a page that requires the extensions in order to work.(I say usually but not always) If you do use FTP and all you do is FTP the needed WordPress files and folders directly into a Folder/Directory on the site that is going to be used for  the Blog..you should also be fine.

(I use ftp all the time because it is much faster..and don't really run into any problems doing it that way.)

Hi Joe

Thanks for the info, I was thinking about using the "don't publish" command in FP to stop the upload of the pages with FPSE, there are only a few of them, the bulk are straight forward html or asp pages.
