Hello, Newbie here.

I wold like to post video files that one can click to open, say an image or text link. When clicked, the Windows Media Player should open and user can resize, download, etc.

The problem is using active x, and my recently downloaded windows media player file builds the player in the web page/browser. I don't prefer this and see all over stand alone players that open seperate of browser.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Joey

Hi Joey,

Have you looked at the Windows Media Player add-in for FrontPage to see if it would work for you?

Welcome aboard Joey!

Usually if you just link to the media file, the browser will open it in the media player (depending on what the user has set up)

Hi Joey

I've built a couple of sites that use video, and the FP addin works fine, but the users preferences will dictate what it looks like.

There's nothing you can do to force them.

Plus, some people don't have the facility to view video, so give them the option to download the necessary software, similar to that used with FLASH intros, a simple button with a link would do

Hi guys.

Thanks for responses.

Yes, I've downloaded Windows Media Player add on and it builds the player into the browser... no matter what browser i use.

Using the same browsers I often view Windows Media Files and the player opens seperate of the browser with "Save As" option (download) available. This is not the case when I build my frontpage site. Player is built in- not seperate of browser.

Corey, not sure what you mean to 'link to it'. I select browse, find the file, and save it. It uploads it, but built in, as mentioned.

Any ideas? Thanks again.

The media file - let's says that it is an mpg file. So you just point your link to that file
Code
See my movie
